Doraemon Cupcakes

31 Aug

Xiao Ding Dang!

Stella – A friend of mine recently quitted her job and plan to move on to better prospects.

She ordered red velvet and chocolate cupcakes to share with her colleagues on her last day!

I’m really happy for her and hope her new place will bring her more opportunities!

Knowing her love for Doraemon, I made this cupcake for her as a surprise to congratulate her!

Delivered this little blue guy together with the rest of the regular cupcakes and she loved it!

Hope we’ll have more time to catch up soon! =)

Angry Bird Cake for Helena!

30 Aug

Had a request from Jane to make an Angry Bird cake.

She’s rather flexible and her only request was for me to fill the cake up with as many birds / pigs as I can.

And fill them up I did! =)

DSLR Camera Cake!

27 Aug

Recently made 2 DSLR Camera cakes for a friend’s friend – Felicia.

It was a challenge as I’ve never done any camera cakes before. A lot of research was done, pictures were reviewed and I started making my own template for carving the cakes out.

What made it more challenging was that she wanted them to be small as they were only having a small celebration among 4 people. And small means more intricate details as there will be a  limited space and cake to work on.

She wanted one to be chocolate sponge with chocolate fudge and the other to be chocolate brownie with walnuts and rich chocolate ganache. The soft chocolate sponge proved to be a challenge as the cake is much softer and harder to carve. I had to freeze it for a while before carving to make sure it harden a little and that made carving so much easier.

After the carvings were all done, everything started to fall better in place. I was clearer on how to proceed on decorating the cake. I covered the cake in fondant, added in the little details, piped on the words and finally make the camera strap.

I brushed a little silver dust on the camera lens and the view finder to give the impression that they have a reflective surface.

There was also a special request for edible icing sheets to be placed on the LCD screens at the back of the cake.

One with “Iron” Man for Kelvin and the other with Naruto for Kavin!

The cakes turned out well and I hope they enjoyed the cake!

Mickey Mouse Cake!

19 Aug

MICKEY  MOUSE!

One of my friends wanted a Mickey Mouse themed cake for  a 5 year old’s birthday!

Their only request was for the cake to have a Mickey Mouse figurine on top and the rest is left to my creativity.

I decided to go with a half red and half blue themed cake.

Red for mickey’s trademark colour and blue for a starry sky look.

Put little mickey heads all over the red side for a cute patterned look.

This was my first time making a Mickey figurine and I wanted him to look cheerful and overjoyed!

Maybe a little too much on the plump and short side but he turned out fairly ok!

Fun cake to make!

Hello Kitty Cake 2!

18 Aug

Popular favourite among many girls.

The Kitty Cat waves Hello! (coz she doesn’t have a mouth)

It’s Hello Kitty again!  (^o^)

This time a bigger one for a 21st year old birthday!

Along with a single signature rose decorating the side.

Pikachu Cake

17 Aug

Recently did a Pikachu cake.

It was ordered by Jingwen for Dickson.

I decided to go with a blue base with lightning bolts dotting the whole perimeter of the cake to match with the theme.

Small, bright and cute!

Chewy Nutella Cookies with a slightly charred Marshmallow!

10 Aug

Yummy Gooey Centre!

Made this with a friend on a sleepy monday afternoon!

Not a big fan of chewy cookies cause I like mine crunchy, but this was yummy!

And really rich -.-“.  Gave me a major sore throat afterwards..

My friend got the recipe online and it’s really easy to make.

It only requires 5 simple ingredients and very little of your time to make.

Good for a lazy weekend when you have a sudden sweet tooth craving!

Nutella Cookies

  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 cup marshmallows

Preheat oven to 175°C. Stir together Nutella, flour, sugar and egg until thoroughly combined.

Form dough into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Push marshmallows into the middle of each cookie and press down firmly with your palm to flatten. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until set.

Leave to cool and Enjoy! ;P
